I've started spinning again. You may recall that I sold my trusty Ashford Traditional just before being given some gorgeous silk/seacell fibre by my son. Talk about a bad decision (to sell I mean). I made an electric wheel and it works after a fashion but it doesn't have enough speed control and for slippery silk you need control.
Then something extraordinary happened. You know, one of those things that you realise is "just meant to be". I decided back in November to look for a new spinning wheel, another Ashford if I could find one at the right price. I looked on Preloved in the UK and to my amazement an Ashford electric spinning wheel was at the top of the list. I contacted the lady concerned but it was already sold (within 12 hours of listing). Back to the drawing board.
Except that three weeks later she contacted me to say she had been let down by the buyer and would I still be interested. Well, that was an easy decision and the rest, as they say, is history.
