There are lots of good reasons for going away with like minded friends but I especially enjoy the Tricot Nordique meetings. This year we were down in Gimont, between Bordeaux and Toulouse, and there were 15 of us (plus four non knitting husbands).
Quite apart from meeting up with old and making new friends, it is a chance to exchange ideas and learn new techniques. We all take examples of work we have done during the year so a lot of oohs and aahs can be heard throughout the weekend. As usual, the designs of Alice Starmore and other shetland designers were prolific as were different lace designs.
This shawl, by Modestine, was particularly beautiful.
Each year we all contribute to a gift for the organiser. This year Françoise was presented with a beautiful blanket and a matching cushion.
Liliana came for the afternoon with her mohair wool, so soft and impossible to resist.
I spent the time finishing off some projects which had been hanging around for a while.
And finally, each year we participate in a swap. This year the item chosen was snood. We are free to choose our own pattern and the items are then swapped in a lucky dip fashion. Look at the beautiful mohair/silk lace snood I received from Sophie.
It is absolutely beautiful and the perfect colour for my cardigan. Thank you Sophie.
