I don't know why but this shawl has given me immense pleasure. It was a last minute piece - my sewing machine stopped working and I had time to fill - and it has turned out so beautifully.
The silk is hand dyed and inevitably didn't come out the colour I was expecting - it never does but that's part of the fun.
I added a few narrow stripes of burgundy mixed with sparkle
And eventually started weaving. As usual the draft is a mixture. I usually start with a draft and then change it quite a lot. And then change it some more.
The first weft was a mix of cashmere and silk and for the second scarf I used the same draft but 100% silk. I wanted to see and feel the difference between the two once they were washed and ironed.
To be honest, on the loom it didn't look or feel special. It was only yesterday, when it was dry, that I saw the shine and felt the lightness and drape. Both scarves are gorgeous!
The sun was shining this morning and I quickly took some beauty shots.
One of these scarves is for sale in my shop. Click on the link top right and it will take you straight there.
