The English Armchair Abroad is located half way between Angers and Le Mans. We are in the department of Maine & Loire but on the borders of the Mayenne and the Sarthe, an area rich in history and culture.
The Anjou region is renowned for its mild climate and is found between the Loire vineyards to the south and the apple orchards of Normandy to the north.
Angers is the home of the Apocolypse Tapestries - the oldest surviving tapestries in the world. Le Mans is famous for its 24-hour circuit. We are also close to Saumur - home of the national riding school, Le Cadre Noir; the Abbey of Fontevraud where the tomb of Richard the Lionheart is to be found; and the Loire Valley with its famous chateaux. The Atlantic coast is just two hours away.
