I have spent the last two days cleaning two holiday cottages. One we look after for someone else and the other one is here at Gennetay.
Both Gîtes were cleaned at the end of last summer but it is amazing how dirt creeps in during the winter. An accumulation of dead flies by the windows, spiders and their webs, dust in the rugs, etc. But today I noticed how much dust had lodged in the lampshades. They are made of cream concertina card and the grooves were very grey. So I hovered them and the difference was amazing. You live and learn.
Both Gîtes are now spring cleaned and sparkling. Our first guests are due in just a few weeks and as I have a fair amount of work at the moment I wanted to get everything sorted out. Max has been busy getting the swimming pool running - although it is still pretty cold - and the garden is beginning to look less battered by the winter. The wisteria is over but the second peonies are coming out and I think we will be eating our first strawberries next week.
If you would like information about the Gîtes please don't hesitate to contact me via this blog. This region is particularly popular for golfing holidays as there are three good courses nearby, all less than an hour's drive. We are also a sixty minute drive from Le Mans and the 24 hour races.
